Whew, even though you had told us the results, I was still anxious reading this. Let us know as soon as you get the other results. Chili Pepper demands an answer!

Last summer I had to take an HIV test for a surgery I was having. I went to Austin for a visit before the results were back and they were supposed to call my parents' house with the results. There was really no likelihood that I would come up positive, but one night I got a short email from my mom that said something to the effect of "Hope you are doing well. Love, Mom" and somehow, over the course of a sleepless night, I convinced myself that she knew that I had turned out HIV positive and wrote that short email so that she didn't have to tell me until I got back. It doesn't make much sense now, and it didn't make much sense at the time, but I played out the course of my life a lot like you did. I decided that I would try to do something really important for the world if that were to happen. Make a school or a scholarship or something. I dunno.

Doesn't it kind of depend on the interpretation of who is "at risk for HIV"? If not, it seems pointless to take the test in the first place. If all I need to do is deem myself not "at risk," then why the test?

Sorry, Nicole. I haven't even met you and I'm calling you out for being at risk for HIV. implicitly, but still doing it. Explicitly now, I guess. Sorry!
