I met carrie.anne in late 2001 or early 2002, back when she was still Carrie. Joe knew her even before that. She was roommates with Lily, whom Joe dated for a month or two in mid-2001.
Though Carrie was pretty tangential to our lives at this point, Joe inadvertantly revolutionized hers when he let Lily borrow his copy of You Are All Sanpaku, George Ohsawa's macrobiotic classic.
Carrie eventually got her knowledge-hungry paws on the book, and went from depressed, nihilistic junkie to quasi-macrobiotic vegan chef/singer/song-writer/actress practically overnight.
After her transformation, Joe and I cast carrie.anne in the lead role of Who is Jim Holt?, the 2002/2003 musical sensation that represents the peak of my achievements so far. In a Friendster testimonial for me, dated 04/19/2004, carrie.anne writes:
When I was drinking myself into oblivion every night and living in a house of crazies, somehow this miraculous script for a little musical called "Who is Jim Holt?" found its way into my hands. At said house, I was eating figurative crap and very sick, until a little book called "You Are All Sanpaku" found its way into my hands. These two items revolutionized my world, no shit. And Rhymes, in my most conservative estimate, is 65% responsible. So BLAME HIM.
"Who is Jim Holt?" was a big hit (the official history of WIJH now claims that we sold out every performance at The Hideout, the coffee shop/theatre where we put it on in 2002), but we didn't really follow up on the success, and everyone drifted their own way for a while.
That summer I went to New York to intern with John Stossel and Joe traveled around the Northern United States and Southern Canada, with his old home town of Brattleboro Vermont being his base.
Carrie.anne ended up going out with a fellow Who is Jim Holt? cast member in Austin for a while, which ended badly, and was perhaps partly responsible for the development of her philosophy of "anti-lovism". As you might gather, anti-lovism opposed love, positing that love was anti-progress and made you less aware of the truly important things in the world.
To this day, Carrie.anne is somewhat cynical about relationships, and arguably has reason to be. But she's not a reactionary or a dogmatist. If you asked Carrie.anne now what she wants out of life, her answer would be simple: "I just want a hand to hold."
But there's more to Carrie.anne than this. Just look at her astrological chart and you'll see. She was born the day before me, on April 22, 1979, which means an ever-lasting friendship between she and I is in the stars.
Also, dare I add, the major attribute of Carrie.anne is constancy. Like a great mountain, Carrie.anne is able to weather even the toughest of times and come away just as before...only stronger. The personality of Carrie.anne is that of a strong, silent type who is blessed with a calm exterior which reflects the strength of inner convictions. Carrie.anne has an uncanny ability to display immense fortitude without moving a muscle. Any person who is befriended by Carrie.anne will have a most trustworthy ally...one whose strength of character stands like a mighty oak and whose affections can be as permanent and as enduring as the earth itself. Individuals who truly know Carrie.anne can find much comfort in such a personal relationship.
Just this year, Carrie.anne moved to New York City and graduated from The Natural Gourmet, only to score a job at Pure Food and Wine and a chef gig at the troubled vegan restaurant Bliss. She seems to be successfully following the natural food track that Joe and I inadvertantly put her on years ago.
And as soon as Joe and I have another project ready, there's no doubt she'll jump right back on the singer/actress/diva/dating cast members track too.

oh. my. god.
slander.
funny slander, though.

and, let it not be forgotten that anti-lovism actually does not oppose love, but the cult mentality of love.
